Azeez, Daniel predict better outing against Mali

THE Flying Eagles of Nigeria are looking for a better outing against Mali in the semi-finals of the ongoing African Youth Championship (AYC), which holds on Thursday at Dobsonville, Soweto.Nigeria confirmed its place in the semi-final and the World Youth Championship after beating Gambia 2-0 in the last group game on Sunday at Milpark, but the captain, Ramon Azeez, said the teams best was yet to come. He noted that the game against Mali would be different from the previous ones, adding that Nigeria would go all out for victory against Mali.We are excited that we have qualified for the World Cup but we are also looking to win the AYC trophy. Right now, we have resolved to do our best against Mali and move to the final so that we can put smiles on the faces of Nigerians, he said.He further revealed: We spoke to ourselves and we have decided to raise our game and win the competition.Azeez, who scored the second goal against Gambia, said the goal has boosted his confidence: You can imagine what scoring a goal can do to your confidence! Scoring against Gambia has given me the confidence to strive harder against Mali. I believe we are going to come out victorious again on Thursday.Daniel Philemon, who spoke in the same vein, said their desire was to do the country proud by winning the trophy. He thanked the management of his club, Kwara United, for the support he has received so far, assuring that he would continue to make it proud.
