SUPER Eagles' defender Efe Ambrose has promised that Nigeria would not let Malawi off the hook this weekend in Blantyre as it did against Namibia.Ambrose, who played as a right back in the slim 1-0 victory over Namibia in Calabar, toldMTNFootball.comthatthe Super Eagles would correct all the shortcomings from the Namibia game in the match against Malawi, stating: 'We are leading the group now as expected. We are set to remain there.'We will go to Malawi with aim of victory. We should have beaten Namibia well last weekend but we only managed a 1-0 despite our performance. But Malawi won't be lucky. We will do what we failed to do right against Namibia when we go to Blantyre.'We all know the importance of the game, we are getting along well as a team and by the time we play Malawi, we would be better than against Namibia.'The player wants Nigerians to pray and keep supporting the team as it bids to make the country proud: 'I am calling on Nigerians to keep supporting us and pray for us. We won't disappoint the nation but will get the desired results as the team plays games,' Ambrose further told MTNFootball.com.The Eagles beat Malawi 1-0 in March 2003 in a 2004 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier. The team trained yesterday at the Abuja National Stadium, with injury-hit midfielder Obiora Nwankwo among the players in the session. The Italy-based Obiora suffered a knock in the Eagles game against Namibia and was substituted with Henry Uche of Enyimba FC.However, the Parma former combative midfielder refused to sit out training but joined the rest of the squad at the FIFA Goal Project in Abuja for the team's first training since. Even though he struggled during the session that was mostly on ball work, passing and shooting, the Olympic team captain saw through the session.'I still feel heaviness on the leg but outside that I am perfect. Hopefully, by the end of Wednesday, I should be a lot better. It's nothing serious,' Nwankwo saidafter the session.The Eagles will train twice today before jetting out in a chartered flight to Blantyre in the night. The match kicks off at 1.30p.m Nigerian time.
