FROM the kick off of this year's Lagos GTB Principal's Cup, there was no sign that schools like Dairy Farm Senior Secondary School and Kuje Senior Secondary School have the wherewithal to lift the trophies ahead of some of the top teams.But when the zonal preliminaries commenced, it was obvious that these two teams will be unstoppable and this was confirmed when Dairy Farm and Kuje emerged winners of the championship last weekend at the Teslim Balogun Stadium.Aside cuddling the trophies, the winning schools were made richer with N1million each.For Dairy Farm, it was Stephen Odeh's strike in the 70minutes that gave the Agege team a 1-0 win over Sango Senior Secondary School in the boys' event.Having finished third at the 2011 edition, Kuje girls' team showed their class, with a 2-1 win over CMS Girls Grammar School.For her scintillating performance throughout the championship, Kuje's Rita Ojiakor was adjudged the most valuable player (MVP) of the tournament.For the handler of the Ijora-based team, Adeleye, Oguntimileyin, was happy to see his lads lifting the coveted trophy.He said: 'I was not surprised because we already worked really hard and we deserved it. Last year, we came out third, and I told my team that this edition we never elude us, hence, we trained to emerge the winner because I believed we could.'Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola, lauded the efforts of GTB towards engaging in sports development in the state through the famous Principal's Cup.For GTB's General Manager, Corporate Communications and External Affairs, Lola Odedina, the bank would continue to bankroll the tourney as part of its efforts to unearth talents for the country.
