Yaya Toure's Agent, Dimitri Seluk, Belittles Pep Guardiola over Manchester City

Published by Bleacher Report on Sun, 10 Jan 2016

The agent of Manchester City star Yaya Toure has warned the Citizens regarding the decision to reportedly make Pep Guardiola their next manager, claiming his own grandfather could win titles with Barcelona and Bayern Munich.Guardiola is widely expected to join the Citizens next summer, and Toure's representative, Dimitri Seluk, admitted that casts doubts over the future of his client, as Guardiola was the one to sell him to Manchester City in 2010.As reported by the Daily Mirror's Simon Mullock, Seluk said:Pep is a great coach. But he has won the title at Barcelona and Bayern Munich. The truth is that my grandfather would win the title with Barcelona and Bayern Munich because they are big clubs with great players.[] In Germany, they say it is 100 per cent thatGuardiolawill be Citys manager and I believe it also.I dont know what Guardiolas plans are, butafter what happened at Barcelonaof course it is a worry that when he comes Yaya will be out.I hope not and Yaya hopes not. He has had offers to leave City, but he loves the club, he loves the fans and he loves the people of Manchester.Once Pep comes, there will be a lot more Spanish players arriving. They are trying to turn City into Barcelona when they should be creating their own identity.Guardiola has already confirmed he will leave Bayern Munich at the end of the season, and City are the favourites to land his signature. The former star midfielder has already won the Bundesliga title in the two seasons he has led the Bavarians, while he also bagged three La Liga titles and two Champions Leagues with Barcelona. That impressive list of accomplishments goes some way to explaining why City would be eager to add a manager like Guardiola, despite the presence of current boss Manuel Pellegrini, who has done an excellent job with the squad.Guardiola's success in Europe in particular should be appealing to the Citizensand just about every other top Premier League club, as illustrated by Zezo Cartoons (for Eurosport UK):The Spaniard's track recordis almost flawless, but despite his consistent success, there have been several pundits and other people around football who have expressed some form of doubt. There's no denying Guardiola landed in excellent situations with Barcelona and Bayern Munich. The former boasted a team of stars and talented youngsters like Lionel Messi when he took the job, while the latter won the treble the year before he was hired. On both occasions, the foundations for success had already been laid.Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp doesn't believe Guardiola has what it takes to turn the fortunes of a smaller team around the way others do, as he told BBC 5 Live Sportsweek (via BBC's Jacqui Oatley):Of course, City aren't Bournemouth. The Sky Blues feature top veterans like Toure, Sergio Aguero and David Silva, as well as star youngsters like Raheem Sterling, Kevin De Bruyne and Kelechi Iheanacho.Guardiola already parted ways with Toure once,so Seluk's comments shouldn't come as much of a surprise, either.Guardiola has a tendency to move a lot of players around when he's first put in charge, and as an ageing midfielder, Toure would be a potential casualty.Follow @ReverschPass
