Geidam lauds voters turnout in Yobe

GOVERNOR Ibrahim Geidam of Yobe State yesterday commended the people of the state for their massive turnout in Tuesdays governorship and House of Assembly election, saying it underlined their need to see the state consolidate on the gains of democracy it has so far made.He also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for organising a free and transparent election without violence as experienced in neighbouring Borno, Bauchi and Gombe states.The governor spoke at his Bukarti hometown where he cast his vote in the elections.He explained that the massive turnout of voters in the state was as a result of heightened awareness about the imperativeness of deepening and extending the gains of democracy and expressing their will in electing the leaders of their choice.The massive turnout is impressive and speaks volumes about how our people are eager to elect leaders who would serve them and consolidate and expand on the gains so far made, he said.Geidam also praised security agents for ensuring that the polls were conducted without hitches.
