London Olympics tourism brochure: NOC commissions First call design

The Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) has signed an agreement with First Call Media, Design and Publishing Ltd, for the publication of the London 2012 Olympics commemorative tourism brochure. The London-based company is to work alongside the NOC in producing a compendium on Nigeria's participation in the Olympics to date.The publication, fully funded by advertising, will contain Team Nigeria's Olympic schedule as well as profiles and details of the athletes and officials to the games.Besides the detailed schedule of the summer Olympics, the brochure is expected to document in details the history of Nigeria's participation and an overview of the performances at all events in which Nigeria has featured since 1952 to date. The rich contents, including details of sponsorships and the broad spectrum of festivities scheduled by the host city to complement the games are also presented to share an insight into how Nigeria could organize a global event of that magnitude and complexity in the near future.This summer, the Olympic Games largely acknowledged as the world's largest display of athletics skills and spirited competition, will take place in London from 27 July to 12 August while the Paralympics Games hold between 29 August and 9 September.The initial printrun of NOC's commemorative brochure is 50,000 copies and this will be distributed freely to organizations, sponsors, partners, foreign missions and other strategic places in Nigeria and the United Kingdom. The 100-page brochure will feature a captivating design and in full colour while the contents sourcing is standardised, with authoritative inputs from the NOC.NOC President, Engr. Sani M. Ndanusa said: 'With Team Nigeria having trained hard and prepared well for London 2012, we are pressing forward with renewed energy and determination to succeed. Now and again, our efforts and the accruing success should be celebrated and documented for posterity. I look forward to the publication of the commemorative brochure.'Honourable Tunde Popoola, the Secretary General of NOC noted: 'Aside producing a booklet that highlights the major events scheduling and festivities of London 2012, it is expedient that Nigeria presents a befitting publication showcasing our beauty and brilliance. The London 2012 commemorative brochure published by NOC raises the standards yet again.' Shola Ogunseitan, project manager for First Call Media, Design and Publishing Ltd, said: 'It's exciting and a great privilege to have to work on this project which aims to celebrate Team Nigeria and our dear country. Nigeria has a deeply connecting history with the Olympic Games and it is definitely right that this history is properly documented and in such a form and shape that is of global standard and appeal.'The brochure is expected to be ready for distribution early in July.
