Fashola's sports initiatives thrill BogiExpress' publisher

THE publisher of BogiExpress Community News, Biodun Lawrence-Ogidan, has described the Governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Fashola, as the best thing that ever happened to sports development in the history of the state.Ogidan, who is the patron of Lagos State Baseball and Softball Association, claimed that the recently concluded State Sports Festival - the Ibile Games - was an indication that the state's policy on sports was working, adding that the priority it has placed on sports would guarantee the state a good outing in the forthcoming National Sports Festival it would host later in the year.The Marketing and Sponsorship sub-committee member of the sports festival also expressed satisfaction at what the Lagos Sports Ministry Commissioner, Enitan Oshodi, was doing to develop youths in the state.'Fashola has people of integrity to manage sports affairs in the state,' he noted. 'Sporting activities have been intensified while the interest of youths is getting more provoked, amateurs are presently being appreciated and celebrated so as to discourage the use of 'mercenaries' in competitions.'He claimed that with the creation of more associations, talents would be discovered from metropolitan and grassroots competitions, which would eventually assist the state to have a pool and reserves of capable athletes and sportsmen.While congratulating Bariga Local Council Development Area for its outstanding performance in the recent Ibile Games, he assured that Community News would honour and give credit to individuals and corporate organisations that support the Lagos hosting through the Sports Endowment Fund.
