Eagles must be cured of goal drought 'Saintfelt

Published by Tribune on Fri, 15 Jun 2012

BELGIUM coach, Tom Saintfiet has expressed fears over Super Eagles low scoring form, reasoning that if care is not taken, it might affect the team in tomorrow's Nations Cup qualification game against Rwanda in Calabar. The Belgian who spoke on Wednesday from his base in Brussels wondered why Super Eagles could not take out supposedly lowly Namibia when both sides met in Calabar two weeks ago, adding that for a team to fritter away a last-minute lead against Malawi then more need to be done by the coaching crew.''Don't forget that I coached the Namibians before, so to me given the profile of the team, I am surprised that the Eagles could record a slim goal margin against the Brave Warriors'', he posited. He said he became more worried when he heard that the Nigerians made a heavy mistake in last week's encounter against Malawi in Blantyre by conceding a last minute equaliser. Saying that all these might affect the Eagles when they face the crunch this weekend.''''The Eagles and their handlers will have to cure the ailment of a low scoring side because in the long run, it is going to count.''''Honestly when I heard these results, as someone that have been following Nigerian football it was a big shock to me and that is why I want to come in. Let whoever is saying I should not be hired know that I already have a contract with the Nigeria Football Federation and this stands.''Nigeria's Sports Minister, Bolaji Abdulahi on Tuesday said Saintfeit could not have the job of Technical Director of the NFF partly because Nigeria has many indigenous hands who could do the job.
