Tributes to Olubayoas he goes home today My jewel is gone -Mum

Published by Tribune on Fri, 29 Apr 2011

MADAM Esther Titilayo Adefemi is the mother of Olubayo Adefemi. She spoke with Tribunesports  thus:  I heard the sad news through our church venerable, though I was already planning to attend church service the same Monday morning at St. Pauls Anglican Church, Ikorodu. When he first broke the news to me, I found it difficult to believe because I could not comprehend the fact that my jewel has gone.Olubayo was nice to a fault, he was a free giver to everybody around him, even those that we dont even know.If you come across him with any problems, just consider it done if not in full but the major part of it, that was the kind of person he was.So when you heard that such a person was dead,  how could you believe it. I just cannot understand why such a thing should happen to us in this family but as a good Christian, everything belongs to the lord. The 60-year old mother of five continued: Though I was not happy as a mother to lose a child, I still went on my knees to give glory to the Almighty for the life he (Olubayo) had lived before his death and this is because he lived a  life worthy of emulation. He was always attending church programmes, he did not smoke or drink, you know what Im talking about. These are some of the things you do as a young boy. Despite his position, he never allowed it to get into his head and he was always willing to do godly things. He was so humble that one wonders if this is Olubayo Adefemi who played for the country and lived abroad.I also give thanks to the Lord over his death because he was not bedridden or crazy before he died. I always praise the lord for this and this is because there are many people like that in the  hospital now begging for death to come. What will I be saying if he was mad, people will now be saying see madmans mother. On Olubayos career, the mother said his father will not want to hear of football but formal education. The only help he got was from his elder ones who encouraged him to forge ahead without the knowledge of the dad.Now that God has elevated him from grass to grace, he is no more to enjoy the fruits of his hard labour. It is sad but I still give thanks to our good Lord for his life.
