Corps member donates N.4m to school in Kogi

AS part of community service development, a serving corps member in Kogi state, Mallam Kabir Abdulkadir, has donated educational materials worth over N400,000 to the Crowder Memorial College, Lokoja.Mallam Kabir, who is presently serving with a first generation bank in Lokoja, said he was propelled to donate the items, when he observed that majority of the students were hawking to complement the efforts of their parents to meet their educational needs.He noted that the materials donated would help to better the conditions of the students, who fall within his community of service.The corps member noted that the children as future leaders, could only contribute meaningfully to the development of the country, if they were given the right training.He said education, as the hallmark of any development, required that all hands must be on deck, and called on government at all levels to pay special attention to the educational development of the child.Abdulkadir commended the hospitality of the school, local and the state governments who had provided the enabling environment for him to perform his assignment.While calling for effective utilisation of the material, he enjoined other corps members to contribute meaningfully to their host communities.Earlier, the chairman of the occasion who was also the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University, Lokoja, Professor Abdulmumini Rafindadi, called for effective utilisation of the materials.He commended the corps member for contributing to the development of his host community, stressing that it was the only way to bring out the positive value of the NYSC scheme.
