Community leader tasks Yewa-Awori to be united

Published by Tribune on Tue, 19 Jun 2012

A community leader, Chief Adewale Adesina has advised the people of Ogun West to shun personal aggrandisement and form a united front towards their emancipation.Adesina made the appeal recently when members of Yewa-Awori Concerned Professionals (YACP) paid him a courtesy visit at his Lagos residence. He lamented that over the years, Yewa-Awori people have been doing things separately and also enmeshed in the attitude of destroying one another because of the age-long inborn contention that characterised into under- development of the area.According to him, 'it is high time for us to come together and spoke with one voice and shun the idea of bringing one another down, which I think, militates against steady progress in our area. We should all see ourselves as brothers and sisters and work together with one mind to lift up Ogun West.He further stated that the people of Yewa-Awori should stop singing the song of being marginalised, saying, 'to me, we people of Yewa-Awori are really the one marginalising ourselves.'While the Egba and Ijebu people always see themselves as one entity against personal gains, we always do things separately thereby marginalising ourselves.'He noted that Yewa-Awori people lack understanding of the political game-plan of the other senatorial districts of the state which always cost them the opportunity to become the governor of Ogun State at the past polls in the state. The community leader, however, enjoined Yewa-Awori people to support the administration of Governor Ibikunle Amosun, adding that he was now fulfilling his electoral promises that will touch the lives of the people across the nooks and crannies of the state.Earlier, in his speech, the national President of YACP, Mr Biodun Akinde disclosed that YACP was formed on the platform of friendship to promote unity, peace, harmony and development of Ogun West in particular and Ogun State in general. Akinde further stated that the group was a non-political organisation that consisted of professionals who have made their marks in their respective trade. He, however, announced the conferment of National Patron of YACP on Chief Adesina.
