Election: Oyo NSCDC rewards female officer for rejecting inducement

The Oyo Statecommand of theNigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has rewarded a female officer of the corps in the state for rejecting a bribe of N500,000 during the last election.The bribe was offerred by some members of a political party in a polling centre in the state to intimidate her to collude with them to rig the elections during the gubernatorial and state Houses of Assembly elections.Presenting the reward to the officer, Mrs Elizabeth Akande, at a parade held on Thursday at the corps state headquarters, Iyaganku, Ibadan, the state Commandant, Mr Bello Paiko Stephen, commended her and reiterated the corps resolve to always fight crime and political thuggery.He said that the Commandant-General of the NSCDC, Dr Olu Abolurin, was aware of the case and had ordered that the woman be rewarded and compensated for the loss suffered.Mrs Akande lost an undisclosed sum of money, in addition to a wristwatch and handset she lost in the incident.
