Oyo ready for U.S. World Academicals Football tourney

THE Oyo State Government has affirmed its support for its team to next month's World Academicals Football Championship slated for North Carolina, United States (U.S.).Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Dapo Lam-Adesina, said the state would do everything possible to support the team, urging the players to continue to work hard, and added the state would continue to be in the forefront of sports development in Nigeria.'We will take full advantage of the competition to further strengthen grassroots sports in Oyo State, and we have resolved to continue various developmental programmes in line with the objectives of the Senator Abiola Ajimobi administration in the state,' he said. 'We will ensure that the team prepares well for the championship to make the country proud at the tournament.'For the President, Nigeria Academicals Sports Committee, Segun Odegbami, Oyo State should be commended for hosting the championship, just as he urged other states to take a cue from the state in terms of grassroots sports development.Odegbami also urged other states, especially in the southwest, which he described as the hub of sports excellence in the past, to emulate the good gesture of Governor Ajimobi in sports and revive the sector.
