Capital Oil, others partner DanJan Sports for Arsenal FC tour

ARSENAL'S playing tour of Nigeria is gathering momentum as high profile sponsors have identified with the event, which comes in August.The likes of Blackberry, Capital Oil and Gas Limited, Sifax Group, IGI Insurance, Well Entertainment and Securities, and UAC Foods have teamed up with London-based DanJan Sports, which is packaging the tour, to bring the best of English football to Nigerians.According to the chairman of the project, Rasaq Bello-Osagie, the tour is now on 'auto pilot' as sponsors have been signing on to the tour toward making it a memorable one.Chief Executive Officer of DanJan Sports, David Omigie, has confirmed that the team that would play against Arsenal would be made known very soon, noting that most Nigeria Premier League clubs were excited about the chance to play against the 'Brazilians' of the English Premiership.He added: 'I am sure that there is tremendous excitement among Nigerians as they await the official announcement from DanJan Sports of the name of the team that will be playing against Arsenal Football Club in Nigeria during the tour.'Nigeria's former international, Waidi Akanni, who is the tour's chief liaison officer, added that arrangements were in top gear to ensure a successful event. He expressed delight at the companies partnering DanJan Sports for the event.The head of marketing, John Okusi, who worked tirelessly to get the companies involved, said it was a result of meticulous planning, and also promised fans the best of football when the tour begins.He said Arsenal was also thrilled at the prospect of coming for the first time to Nigeria, and indeed Africa, where it has a large fan-base. He added: 'This is Arsene Wenger's first trip with his team to Africa and they are coming to Nigeria. Let's all make this a memorable event.
