As Kalu, Reuben trade words over titleTHE Nigeria Premier League (NPL) has postponed the rescheduled Week 28 game between Gombe United and Enyimba, citing security concerns in the northern city.Officials of Enyimba told The Guardian yesterday that they were already on their way to Gombe when they got hint of the postponement and had to turn back to Aba. The Guardian also learnt that the game between Jigawa Golden Stars and Ocean Boys has equally been put off, also for security reason.An NPL source disclosed that the board would meet soon to deliberate on games involving some northern teams, which states have been declared dangerous for public gathering, adding that the board would not risk the lives of players in cities that are susceptible to terrorist attacks.Meanwhile, fresh from their exploits over the weekend in Calabar, where they helped the Super Eagles to a 2-0 defeat of Rwanda in an Africa Nations Cup qualifier, Enyimba's Uche Kalu and Gabriel Reuben of Kano Pillars are locked in war of words over the likely winner of the Nigeria Premier League (NPL).Reuben and Kalu played the entire 90 minutes of the game, which took Nigeria to the final round of the South Africa 2013 Nations Cup qualifying series. Speaking to The Guardian during a reception for the Super Eagles after the game, Kalu said he would rejoin Enyimba to help the third placed team in its quest for a seventh title.The Bussdor of Port Harcourt former star said: 'Enyimba has been doing fine without me, and I want to rejoin the team to ensure that we win the league again. We had a bad day in Ilorin against ABS, but we plan to regain the points we lost there in Gombe this midweek.'Enyimba, which lost 1-3 to ABS in Ilorin over the weekend, will meet Gombe United today. When both teams met in the reverse fixture in Aba, Enyimba ran away with the three points in a 3-1 victory. Enyimba is currently a point behind Kano Pillars, which Reuben believes has all it takes to win the title this term.Reuben, who scored Nigeria's lone goal in the 1-1 draw with Malawi in a Brazil 2014 World Cup qualifier a fortnight ago, said that having taken the lead, nothing would stop Pillars from winning its second title this term.'I am encouraged by the efforts of my colleagues while I was away, and my going back to the club is to help in solidifying our hold on the top spot,' he said.'We have about the best squad in the league this season and with the massive support we get from the state government and our fans, we will continue to do well until we crown our efforts with the title.
