A Berlin inspiration

THE last edition of the Nigerian Television Fashion Show (NTFS), which took place at the Federal Palace Hotel in Lagos was  another opportunity for the nations up-coming and established designers to present a sneak preview of their 2012 Collection to the entire world. And they did not disappoint with their various themes and designs that truly followed international trends.One of them was renowned designer, Beampeh, who showed a sneek peek of her Summer 2012 Collection tagged: Prints-Plosion a-la-Berlin, at the yearly fashion event that is now on the social calender of designers and fashion stars alike in Lagos.Inspired by the colourful Berlin walls of Germany, Beampeh was able to use her artistic ingenuity and creativity to translate the historic walls themes into her simple and elegant designs made with Daviva fabrics. The colours were simply picked to match the colours and designs of some historical structures in Berlin.Bimpe Adebambo, the labels creative director, explains how she did it. Given the vibrancy of colours of Daviva fabrics, intensity of print and smooth textures, I was able to match the prints with some of the graffiti and paintings on the Berlin Wall that chiefly inspired the collection.The sights, sounds, architecture like the Brandenburg gate, Berliner dome, art, galleries and friendliness of the people and the fact that Berlin is such a cool cultural place played a secondary inspirational role, she further explains.She plans to show the full collection later on in the year in June or July.Displayed here are some of the clothes and what inspired them, the inspirations and their actual final products.
