Orji pledges new deal in Abia

GOVERNOR Theodore Orji of Abia State, who has just been re-elected for a second term, has promised not to disappoint the people of the state.Speaking at a ceremony to welcome his re-election yesterday in Abia, he said he was extremely appreciative of the peoples confidence in him.Orji said: I am happy that you gave me your trust and destiny. I will never disappoint you all. This power will not enter my head; rather I should see myself as holding a trust for all.He promised that the next four years of his second term would be action-packed.We are going to be in a haste to do the things that all will be proud of, he added, pledging to bring about positive changes within the first two years of his tenure.According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Ojo Maduekwe, former minister of Foreign Affairs, proposed the victory toast.Vincent Ogbulafor, former national chairman of the PDP, called for prayers for the governor-elect.Erstwhile chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Onyema Ugochukwu, Senators Enyinnaya Abaribe and Nkechi Nwaogu, described the victory as a victory for the people.This is the first time that we have actually joined hands to elect our governor. The people have spoken and it is final, they said.Meanwhile, the governorship candidate of Community Party of Nigeria, Rev. Obioma Onyeaghala, has rejected the results.He urged INEC to cancel the election, alleging that the results did not represent the wishes of the people.
