We Will Do Better Than Beijing 2008, NCDSC Promises

Published by Guardian on Sat, 23 Jun 2012

AS Team Nigeria continues its preparations for the London 2012 Olympics Games, the Nigeria Civil Defence and Security Corps (NCDSC) has promised that its athletes in the contingent would improve on their performance at the last Olympics Games in China. The corps, whose athletes were outstanding at the just concluded Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) Golden League in Warri, Delta State, revealed on Thursday that it has programmes to guide its members of staff that would be competing for Team Nigeria at the Olympics Games with a view to raising their performance in London.Controller General of the Corps, Ade Aboulorin, disclosed that the level of improvement at training by his athletes was enough to assure him of the determination of the NCDSC to surpass its performance in China during the 2008 Olympics Games in Beijing. While announcing the Corps collaboration with the Federation of Public Service Games (FEPSGA) to conduct the Olympics Day Run this weekend in Abuja, Aboulorin promised to encourage the officers from the corps to continue to give their best in sports, describing them as good ambassadors of the organisation.'We are not just going to the Olympics Games to participate, we are going to London to prove ourselves and make another name for the corps. I can assure Nigerians that our officers will definitely surpass their performance in China because there has been an impressive improvement in their performance since the last Olympics Games in Beijing.'We will continue to give them all the encouragement to ensure that they did their best in the name of the corps,' he said, while also assuring of adequate security at the Olympics Day Run.
