I Can't Imagine Segun Has Gone ' Kolade

AS Nigerians pay tributes to late Ambassador Segun Olusola, there are indicators that his remains will be buried on July 20. This will be preceded by a five-day funeral to be held in Lagos and the late sage's hometown, Iperu-Remo, Ogun State. Service of song, cultural night, traditional day, and commendation service are parts of the rite of passage.Former Nigeria's High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Dr Christopher Kolade, in a telephone chat, declined comment. When he was approached again during his condolence visit to the late broadcaster's family, he said: 'I cannot imagine that Segun is no longer here.'The first child, Ronke described her father as a perfect man. Earlier, she burst into tears after walking out of the sitting room where people had gathered to commiserate with the family. She repeatedly said: 'People said he was a wonderful man but where is he now.'Ronke narrated how she entreated her father on sick bed to wait for her younger sister's return from the United Kingdom before he gave up. Ronke's sister, indeed, returned in the morning of the day Olusola gave up.According to late Sani Abacha's second in command, Oladipo Diya, Olusola served the country wholeheartedly. He said they crossed path when he was in Enugu with Olusola in the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA). Diya said the meeting offered him an opportunity to understand the man Segun ' a detribalised Nigerian.The home of the arts patriarch was a reunion of sort for old NTA staff and members of the Village Headmaster crew, as they played back old days with Olusola.Former PMAN President, Dr. Tee Mac Omatshola Iseli, described him as peacemaker, who worked tirelessly to restore normalcy when there was a crisis in PMAN. Having served in different committees with him, Omatshola said he respected the former diplomatic.Director General of CBAAC, Prof. Tunde Babawale, described Olusola as a role model to promoters of African arts and culture. 'We will all miss you', he submitted.Olusola loved artwork; he turned his residence to a collection centre ' Ajibulu Moniya Gallery. From the door, an array of artwork welcomes visitors and guests.After the death of their collector, the works are still there to relieve grief of guests, friends and relatives and even consoled them, as their mood has not changed.
