Famuyibo commends Gov Wada's tourism package

Published by Tribune on Wed, 27 Jun 2012

The recent declaration of Governor Wada that he would enhanced the tourism potentialities of Kogi State for the benefits of his people has continued to generate remarks from eminent tourism stake holders .The Chief Executive Officer of The Reuben's Hotel and Rubby Gold Centre, Ibadan, Oyo State, Chief Reuben ilemoboye Famuyibo has commended Governor Wada for his foresightedness and corporate vision for the State of the Confluence, particularly his intention of turning the state into a tourists destination.'He said he was impressed that a governor could emerge in Kogi who appreciates the historical monuments which abound in the state and ready to protect them for this generation and generations yet unborn and also enhancing them to mobilize wealth, generate employment and empower the people. Chief Famuyibo said 'it is only a good thinker and lover of the people like Governor Wada who can see the economic potentialities in tourism and decide to jump start it for the benefits of the state and his people.'He pointed out that 'Kogi State is a special state in Nigeria's which should have been branded as the bastion of tourism history of Nigeria political and economic development, but it is regrettable that Captain Wada's predecessors did not see this glorious part of the state. However, where the other could not see anything Captain Wada has been able to discover the gold buried in there. It is about vision. It is about mission. It is about genuine intention to serve the people and leave eternal legacies.'Chief Famuyibo remarked 'The historical relevance of Lokoja in the political and economic development of Nigeria as a nation when it once served as the capital of Niger area from where Lord Lugard administered the country is enough for its being branded as the Nigeria political tourism centre. But one is happy that Governor Wada has promised not to allow all the historical landmarks built in Kogi state and which tell the history of our emergence as a nation to crumble and rot away.'He called on the people of Kogi State to support captain Wada in his effort at 'breaking the jinx of stunted growth and under development in the state, which has helped in festering poverty, and wretchedness, as Captain Wada is determined to ensure that Kogi and his citizen say farewell to penury and humiliated existence.
