Kwara inaugurates road maintenance agency board

The Kwara Government has reiterated its determination to reposition the state Road Maintenance Agency to meet current challenges on road rehabilitation. The state Commissioner for Works and Transport, Alhaji Amuda Kannike, gave the assurance at the weekend, while inaugurating the new board of directors of the agency in Ilorin. Kannike said the setting up of the agency was in compliance with the Federal Government's directive that states should set up agencies for roads maintenance. He said the State Government would provide modern facilities to enable the agency to live up to expectation.The commissioner said that the ``operation fill the potholes'' embarked upon by the State Government would be a continuous process and advised the new board to ensure that all roads were motorable. The General Manager of the agency, Alhaji Baba Jubril, urged the board members to always show commitment to their job and assist the state to make all roads motorable. Responding, the chairman of the board, Alhaji Suleiman Wura, stressed the need for proper funding and promised to create ways of solving numerous challenges facing the agency.
