Autodesk moves to tackle software piracy

AUTODESK Africa, software maker for the architecture, engineering, mining and construction industries, has identified cultivation of partnerships with local regulatory bodies as a tactic in its effort to curb software counterfeiting in Nigeria.The Sales Director, Autodesk Africa, Mr. Richard Smedley-Williams, said in working closely with organisations such as the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Autodesk aimed to drastically reduce software piracy in the region and better protect its customers from malicious software coding that was often contained in pirated versions.He decried the growing phenomenon of counterfeit software, which he said continue to damage the market of legitimate service providers, thereby creating dangers for customers in the process.
