Zimbabwe pledges to relax travel restrictions for Nigerians

FOR standing by it when the Western countries imposed sanctions against it, Zimbabwe has expressed gratitude to Nigeria with a promise to reciprocate the gesture by removing restrictions on the country's citizens travelling to the South African country.Zimbabwe's Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Walter Mzembi, disclosed this during the Presidential Dinner organised in honour of African Tourism Ministers and delegates attending the 53rd UNWTO Commission for Africa holding in Calabar, Cross River State capital.According to Mzembi, Nigerians were the ones that oiled the wheel of most of the country's businesses between 2008 and 2011 when the international communities abandoned the nation and left most of the shops and service outlets empty.To this end, the tourism minister revealed that he planned to present a proposal to his government that would ease restrictions on Nigerians travelling to the country byelevating Nigerians from 'Category C' to 'Category B', which would make it possible for them to be given visas at the point of entry to the country.
