THE Oyo State governor-elect, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, has saluted workers in the state on the occasion of the May Day celebration, just as he promised them better welfare package that will reward them for their positive efforts and contributions to the growth of the economy of the state.The government-elect, in hisMay Day celebration message to workers in the state, urged them to reflect on the past and prepare for future challenges.In a statement by his Media Assistant, Mr Tunde Muraina, the governor-elect congratulated the workers in the state and the Oyo State people at large for witnessing another Workers Day.According to him, we are all happy for the change in Oyo State and I congratulate our workers too for witnessing the workers day celebration.I assure them all that they will not regret voting for me and my party, the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), in the last election.Senator Ajimobi further promised the people of Oyo State that the state, under his administration, would wear a new and improved look, while promising that he would fulfill all his electioneering promises to the people of the state.Their support for our party (ACN) will be rewarded with good governance and positive dividends of democracy, Senator Ajimobi said.The governor-elect also promised pensioners that their lots would be adequately taken care of under his leadership.He promised to pay retirement benefits and gratuities as at when due, adding that never again would the senior citizens of our state face the deprivation of their entitlements, at a time when they should be savouring the fruits of their years in service.Meanwhile, The leader of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in Oyo State has said that the party will not intervene in the administration of the governor-elect, Senator Abiola Ajimbi.The party leader, while addressing newsmen in Ibadan on Friday, said that the party would only provide the governor with the party policy which was targeted at even development of the state.He said that the leadership of the party would ensure that the policy of the party was also implemented and some of the partys policy would include qualitative education, rural development, which he said had been destroyed since the reign of Chief Obafemi Awolowo in the old Western Region and good welfare package for civil servants.The party leader also disclosed that the incoming government would implement the new minimum wage of N18,000 and said that no fewer than 20,000 unemployed persons would be employed in the first six months of the new administration.Meanwhile, the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP), Oyo State branch, has congratulated the governor-elect of the state, Senator Ajimobi, on his victory in Tuesdays gubernatorial election in the state.This was contained in the congratulatory message to Senator Ajimobi, which was made available to the Nigerian Tribune on Sunday. The NUP wished Senator Ajimobi Gods guidance, wisdom and direction to steer the ship of the state to a safe harbour, saying it rejoiced with the entire citizensof Oyo State for having been led out of dark tunnel of rudderless administration to the dawn of purposeful governance.
