Ohordua gets new Onojie

The people of Ohordua in EsanSouth-East Local Government Area of Edo state, have got a new traditional ruler. The new king of the town is His Royal Highness, Oribhabor II, the Onojie of Ohordua.The new Onojie received his staff of office from the state governor, Adams Oshiomhole, at a coronation ceremony which took place last weekend at Ohordua.Besides, Oribhabor conferred on Governor Oshiomhole the chieftaincy title of Oduma of Ohordua and on the state deputy governor, Dr. Pius Odubu, the chieftaincy title of Onoseloese of Ohordua as part of the events to commemorate his official coronation ceremony.Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Odubu expressed gratitude to the Onojie for the honour done him, just as he said that he was born at Ohordua and that he would continue to cherish his relationship with the people of Ohordua.The deputy governor also pledged to continue to contribute his quota towards the uplifting the community.The Esogban of Benin Kingdom, Chief David Edebiri, who was the chairman at the occasion, commended the people of Ohordua for resolving amicably, the crisis that preceded the coronation of Oribhabor II as the Onojie of Ohordua.High point of the ceremony was the presentation of Staff of Office to HRH, Oribhabor II, Onojie of Ohordua by the Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.It will be recalled that during a courtesy call on the Benin monarch, Omo NOba Erediauwa, the then Onojie-designate had told the Oba of Benin that his march to the throne was characterised by mixed events which included orchestrated intimidation with judicial obstacles.He also told Oba Erediauwa that these had since been overtaken by events as he had won the court cases relating to his coronation.
