2012 Olympics:Nigeria hits London with 31 athletes

THE Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN). has announced the list of thirty One team list for the forthcoming London 2012 Olympic Games scheduled to begin on the 27th July to 12th August, 2012, just as the federation commended the athletes for their efforts at the just concluded Africa Athletics Championship held in Port Novo, Cotonou.Disclosing this Monday at the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) boardroom was the president, AFN, Chief Solomon Ogba who also said that he was satisfied with the team performance and that with their performance the team is ready for the games in London.According to him, the Nigerian delegates to the Republic of Benin African meet placed first with 10 gold,6silver and 5 bronze,followed by Kenya with 9 gold, 9 silver and 8 bronze and South Africa in third position with 6 gold, 9 silver and 10 bronze medals.Speaking further, Ogba, also informed that the selection of the athletes were thorough gave the names as follow; Blessing Okagbare, Gloria Asumnu, Lawreta Ozoh (100m women), 200m (women) Gloria Asumnu, Lawreta Ozoh and Christy Udoh, 400m (women) Regina George and Omolara Omotosho, 400m Hudrdle women) Ajoke Odumosun, High Jump (Women) Doreen Amata, Long Jump Blessing Okagbare, Shot put Vivian Chukwu Emeka, heptathlon Uhunoma Naomi Osaazuwa, Marathon Esther Obiekwe, 100m Hurdle women SeunAdigun, (4x100m women) Blessing Okagbare, Gloria Asumnu, Lawretta Ozoh, Oluwadamola Osayomi, Wisdom Isoken and Christy Udoh, while the 4x4oom women has Regina George,Omolara Omotosho,Bukola Abogunloko,Endurance Abinuwa ,Idara Otu and Margaret Etim.The team are; 100m, Obinna Joseph Metuh,O gho Oghene Egwero, Peter Emelieze, 110m Hurdle, Selim Nurudeen, 400m hurdle AmeadiMorton, Long Jump Stanley Gbageke, Triple Jump Oluwatosin Oke, 4x400m; Saul Weogopwa, Abiola Onokoya, Isah Salihu, Tobi Ogunmola, Segun Ogunkole and Godday James, Ogba.
