PLANS of developing the nation's building materials market via emerging global designed looks set to be achieved, going by fresh introductions international brands of furniture and interior design material by manufacturers and vendors.Indeed novel designs of upholstery, table wares, materials for furniture production, profiles, mdf, baseboard, plywood, panels, panel wood, Edge banding Tapes Woodworking machines and tools amongst other were on display at the four-day exhibition organisers by SENEXPO International Fairs of Turkey and BKG Exhibitions Limited.According stakeholders at the fair these array of international products would afford local producer the opportunity to exhibit their wares and be averse with international standard products.Emphasizing this at the fair, Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Commerce and Industry, Mr. Adedapo Oluseyi, stated that the organisation of such a fair came at the right time when government is looking to attract more foreign direct investment in the economy and elevate the local standards of building materials to meet international best practices.He stressed that the Lagos government has been looking forwards to bringing in more international firms that would boost trade, create jobs and improve the economy.Corroborating this, Managing Director of Aframero Limited, Mrs. Yetunde Oghomienor, explained that a lot needs to be done to improve the local content of the furniture market, even as most international companies are moving into using less wood in the design of product which end up looking practically like wood material.She added that the company focuses on importing various brands of furniture and interior design materials, amongst which are, medium density Fiberboard (M.D.F), Melamine Face Chipboard (M.F.C), Edge banding Tapes, Premium kitchen, office and shop fittings, Woodworking machines and tools.Earlier Managing Director of BKG Exhibitions Limited Fair, Mr. Ifeanyichukwu Agwu, said that having the Expo declared open by the Commissioner underscores the seriousness of the Lagos State Government efforts to encourage and support every effort geared towards enhancing rapid economic development of the State in particular and Nigeria in general. He pointed out that Nigeria is an appropriate market gather established global brands as well as new entrants in the industry.In the same vein, Managing Director Hyster Investment Limited Odunayo Emasealu whose firm is the sole distributors of Kastamonu brand of Boyut PVC and Edge bands, explained that fair which had over 100 furniture and interior design firms in participation had lived up to the expectation even as many new furniture and interior design products were debuting at the firm.He however lamented the fact that many top quality furniture and interior design product come in through the black market stressing that it is imperative that such fairs are held to establish genuine contact with the manufacturers.Earlier Managing Director of BKG Exhibitions Limited Fair, Mr. Ifeanyichukwu Agwu, said that having the Expo declared open by the state official underscored the seriousness of the Lagos State Government to encourage and support every effort geared towards enhancing rapid economic development of the State in particular and Nigeria in general.He pointed out that Nigeria is an appropriate market gather established global brands as well as new entrants in the industry adding that the objectives of the fair are to stimulate the enormous potentials in the sector in the country, and to create a forum for players in the industry to display products.Amongst products showcased at the fair were: upholstery, fabrics, materials for furniture production, profiles, mdf, baseboard, plywood, panels, panel wood, door panels, parquet, laminates, other floorings, fitting systems and products, and wood working machinery.
