Published by Guardian on Mon, 02 May 2011

ORGANISER of the upcoming NDDC Project One Youth Cup, Community Family Helpers Initiative (CFHI), has called on the newly elected officers in the Niger Delta Region to back the football competition expected to come up after getting the approval of the NDDC.While congratulating President Jonathan Goodluck for on his re-election and that of others, CFHI called on the governors of all the states in the region to support the programme meant to empower the youth. CFHI boss, Festus Ogana, said that Project One Youth Cup is the first of its kind in the region hence the need to get the backing of decision makers in the region. It is important that we give this project priority because it will go a long way in producing top footballers. This programme is to be organised yearly for both males and females and our plan is to produce world-class footballers in the region in the next five years, he said.We also call on our President and the Ministry of Niger Delta and the NDDC to see this programme as one of the best form of resolving crises and bringing peace among the youth, as it will create an avenue to bring youths of different communities together as one.He added: The CFHI believes that together with NDDC, we can set up a football academy in the Niger Delta to fully engage the youths in the region and the nation in general with sporting activities.
