MUSON Centre will come alive on Thursday, May 5 for the celebration and presentation of the book, Reflections on the Events of My Life, an autobiography about the life Professor Samuel Olutunde Fadahunsi, an engineer, who clocked 91 recently. It chronicles his life as a civil servant and how he was able to build a career for himself.The book examines his professional career spanning over 60 years both in the public and private sectors, the indelible landmarks he has made in the then Western Region of Nigeria and in Lagos where he was at the very epicentre of the citys infrastructural development activities.The book presentation committee headed by Prof. Dupe Olatunbosun, stated during a press briefing ahead of the presentation that in Nigeria of today, Fadahunsi, with all the strains and the stress of daily living, was still making his contributions with faculties working properly, and therefore putting down his own autobiography was certainly a rare sign of achievement.Reflections on the Events of My Life is a book that shows Fadahunsis intellectual fervour and his 50 years of extensive experience in all aspects of civil engineering works, his competencies, which include supervision, construction fabrication, water supply, town planning and road research.To chair the presentation of the book will be former Vice President of Nigeria, Dr. Alex Ekwueme. Special guest of honor for the day will be General Yakubu Gowon while presenters of the book will be business mogul and philanthropist, Folorunsho Awomolo and Oba Okunade Sijuwade, Ooni of Ife.Dr. Reuben Abati of The Guardian newspaper is expected to review the book, while the Governor of Lagos State Babatunde Fashola is expected to grace the occasion alongside his counterparts from Osun, Oyo, Ogun, Ekiti, Edo, and Ondo states. Royal fathers of the day will be Dr. Gabriel Aromolaran, the Owa Obokun of Ilesa, and Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu.The uniqueness of Fadahunsi, Dupe stated, was that at a ripe age of 91, the man lived 40 years of his life under the colonial era and 51 years in post independent Nigeria. She also said, He witnessed successive military governments in Nigeria, and was well placed to engineer change in our society by recounting history in his own perspective in relation to his life, profession and his country, Nigeria.An insight into the book will tell readers about the past and how he knew it, the present as he sees it and guide us in his way to a better future.Having been the CEO of LEDB, Fadahunsi with his team, was responsible for the sort of planning that saw Lagos State being touted as one of the fastest growing cities in the world, with focus on housing, social amenities, planning and town development in the Lagos Metropolitan Area.
