Laurent Koscielny Injury: Updates on Arsenal Star's Leg and Return

Published by Bleacher Report on Sun, 14 Feb 2016

Arsenals premier centre-back Laurent Koscielny was brought off at half-time in Sunday's game with Leicester City due to a dead leg.Continue for updates.Koscielny Withdrawn from Foxes ClashSunday, Feb. 14News of the problem accrued was confirmed by the club, per James Olley of the London Evening Standard. The Frenchman was replaced by Calum Chambers. As one of the most complete central defenders in European football, theres no doubt the Gunners will miss Koscielnys influence should he miss further minutes. The Frenchman is a vital part of the Arsenal set-up. His partnership with Per Mertesacker gives this team solid foundations, but its the rounded abilities of Koscielny which enable it to flourish. Indeed, his dynamism, reading of the game and aerial strength so often bail the Gunners out of trouble at the back; he is capable of chipping in with a few goals too.For manager Arsene Wenger, Koscielny is one of a few players in this team who is almost irreplaceable. Gabriel Paulista has impressed in bursts, but is still a little rough around the edges, while Chambers has still yet to completely convince during his time as an Arsenal player to this point. The Gunners have suffered with a plethora of injuries to key men this season, but as they gear up for a vital run of fixtures, few would be missed quite as much as Koscielny. Needless to say, all at the Emirates Stadium will be crossing their fingers and hoping he can get back to full fitness as soon as possible.
