Christ Embassy donates $10,000 to Oshonaike, Edem

THE Christ Embassy Church (CEC) Uyo, Akwa Ibom State has donated $10,000 to Offiong Edem and Funke Oshonaike-Irabor, the two female table tennis players who will participate at the London 2012 Olympics.President of the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF), Hon. Kayode Abdulwahab-Omotose, disclosed this while speaking with sports journalists, adding that the federation lauded the partnership, which has become a morale booster for the players.He stated that he had a fruitful discussion at the last Annual General Meeting of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), in Uyo, with the representative of CEC to garner partnership for the NTTF, "which today has resulted in this laudable donation,"Omotose, added that the NTTF would continue to woo corporate organisations, groups and firms towards improving the standard of the game, just as he described the donation to Edem and Oshonaike-Irabor, who won the gold and silver medals at the last Africa Games,Maputo 2011 as highly inspiring.Omotose, further disclosed that Head of CEC in Uyo, Pastor Emeka Nnabuko, has also increased the prize money for this years Reach Out Nigeria (RON) national annual table tennis championship.According to him, the prize money for the tournament which holds in Uyo in September/October every year, has been increased from N1million to N2million for all the ten categories. Events to be competed for includes the cadet, junior and senior boys and girls singles, doubles and mixed doubles.
