The Allure Of White Wines

JUST as there are lovers of red wine, there are those who love white wine. White wine is a wine whose colour is slightly yellow. This kind of wine is produced from red-skinned grape juice, which does not allow extract of pigment from the skin, as well as white grapes. However, mainly white grapes are used to prepare most white wines, still.One of the most famous white-coloured wines is champagne. Made from red grapes (Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier) as well as white grapes (Chardonnay), it becomes a sparkling wine as it is fermented in its bottle.The flavour of white wines may range from very dry to sweet and golden. The common flavour descriptions include citrus, apple, pear, grapefruit, lemon, lime, pineapple, melon, butter, honey and dried apricots.White wines are commonly taken with lighter meals or as an aperitif. But there are plenty of exceptions and palate preferences that dictate which wines to pair with what foods. Lovers of white wines say they are more refreshing, lighter in both style and taste than the majority of their red wine counterparts ' qualities that make them ideal for warm climate occasions.When it comes to presentation, white wines demand a different glass style altogether from red wines. They are best presented in narrower glasses, as the sharper taper at the top of the glass allows for better aroma concentration of more delicate white wines.To serve white wines just right, the temperature should be about 7-13 degrees Celsius.Other common varieties of white wines include Riesling, Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris and Moselle.
