Warri Wolves, Okpe United tango in Delta FA Cup final

DEFENDING champion, Warri Wolves, has qualified for the final of the Oceanic Bank/DFA Cup after a hard fought victory over Sagwe Football Club of Udu.In the first semi-final game played at the Oleh Township Stadium, Wolves goalkeeper Chigozie Agbim saved a first half penalty awarded to the Udu team and went on to make the difference in the ensuing penalty shootout after the game had ended 0-0 at regulation time.In the second semi-final match played at the Austin Jay Jay Okocha Stadium in Ogwashiuku, Okpe United Football Club of Sapele came from behind to force Iwere United Football Club to a 1-1 draw, before winning the game 6-5 on penalties.With these results, Wolves and Okpe United will now trade tackles in the final billed for Sunday at the Warri City Stadium. The game is expected to kick off at 3p.m after the third place match between Sagwe FC and Iwere United billed to begin by 12p.m at the same venue.Meanwhile, the Amaju Melvin Pinnick-led DFA board is putting finishing touches to plans to ensure a fun-filled final of the competition with music act, Fresh, expected to lead other performers at the event.The organisers also said that plans were at an advanced stage for an All-Star game between players from Delta State and the Rest of the World, in which former players such as Stephen Keshi, Austin Jay Jay Okocha, Victor Ikpeba, Edema Fuludu, Jonathan Akpoborie, Wilson Oruma and Michael Obiku, among others, would play for the state.
