Ghana Sports Minister raises alarm over Super Falcons form

Published by Guardian on Tue, 03 May 2011

GHANAS Deputy Sports Minister, Nii Nortey Dua, on Sunday in Abuja described the Super Falcons, which drew 1-1 against the Black Princesses in an All Africa Games qualifier, as a team not yet ready for the Germany 2011 Women World Cup.Speaking to The Guardian after the game, Dua said he was shocked at the unco-ordinated performance of the Nigerian side, warning that a lot of work needed be done to put the team in shape for the challenges of the World Cup.He was full of praises for his girls for their courage in forcing Falcons to a draw, pointing out that the Ghana U-20 women team had given the country a very good course to smile where the Black Queens and the Black Meteors have failed to secure London 2012 Olympic tickets for the country. These girls are the toast of the entire Ghana because they have raised our hopes for the All African Games, he said. It has been an unfortunate year for Ghanaian football because the Black Meteors and the Black Queens crashed out of the London 2012 Olympics. The Black Princesses are the lone rangers now flying the flag of our country. Hopefully, they would make amends for the lost of the Olympic tickets, and they have the support of every Ghanaian. There are rooms for improvement in their performance and the technical crew will map out the right strategy before the Super Falcons come for the second leg encounter in a fortnight.
