Amodu Heralding New Hopes For Human Existence

Published by Guardian on Tue, 03 May 2011

For over 26 years, Pharmacist Ben Amodu has practiced as a hospital Pharmacist. More importantly however, his practice has been dedicated to intense researches into finding solutions to life-threatening diseases, chief among them being the dreaded Human Immuno-deficiency Virus (HIV). Amodu, who is the Amana Attah of Igala, spoke with LILLIAN CHUKWU about research works, his findings and the resultant life-saving drugs.BackgroundI am an Igala from Abajikolo-Ife area of Kogi state. I had my early education in my community primary and secondary schools and passed with distinctions in all papers at my final exams. By 1977, I enrolled at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in Kaduna State for the School of Basic Studies. I was later admitted for a Bachelor of Science degree and majored in Industrial Pharmacy. I later attended the University of Lagos for a Masters in Business Administration, and knowing the importance of having legal knowledge as a patent medicine producer, I proceeded to the University of Abuja for a degree in Law and qualified as a Barrister at the Nigeria Law School in 2005.Earlier in 1981, after graduating from ABU, I had first served as an intern Pharmacist at the Kaduna State Psychiatric hospital, involved in simple extemporaneous preparations on the hospitals drug formulary. I was employed into the federal civil service and rose to become the chief Pharmacist (head of the Presidents hospital pharmacy division) at the State House clinic in Lagos in 1993. I am still in the civil service in Abuja.Could you give insights into what your three drugs combination is aboutThere are the SAABs, DAABs and HAABs, which I refer to as the G3. SAAB is the first drug, which I usually call General Officer Commanding (GOC) because it is derived from the first scientific work of a German I had read about when the HIV broke out. It is a combination of different plant family including sesame seed, bitterleaf, garlic, aloe vera and glucose, zinc, saponins, vitamins and fibres, which I have combined in very intricate manner to produce SAABs.  This drug has anti-inflammatory, anti-analgesic, appetite-improving, anti-tuberculosis, anti-ulcerative and is capable of resolving all opportunistic infections in a HIV situation. SAABs cures insomnia and is energy-giving. DAABs and HAABs have related properties. The combination of these three drugs, when administered simultaneously, can stop an amputation, dry up cancerous cells, treat malaria, improve eyesight, heals skins, increases diabetics-induced low libido and high blood pressure. It also serves as family drugs, it enhances the skin colour, stops illnesses and kills HIV virus in the blood. What correlation does G3 have with HIV treatmentWhen the Human Immuno-deficiency Virus (HIV) broke out in 1981, based on the oath we took as Pharmacists to avoid dispensing drugs with side effects, I took it as a challenge to find a recipe that will control the virus without side effects. At that same period, my mother developed diabetics and high blood pressure. Sadly, that was the period I was developing my drugs and we lost her.Luckily, my inquisitiveness for local HIV control drugs without side effects came to fruition. I was reading voraciously about herbs and supplements. That was how I got the research materials to compare with what the German I read about did in the mixture of certain herbs for curative purposes. Even the laboratory scientists were skeptical I could find a solution to HIV attack on the immune system. My drugs underwent the compulsory four tests to be certified fit for human consumption. These tests include the anti-inflammatory, anti-analgesic, comparison of the drug with diclofenac sodium cataflam and it must undergo an anti-animal efficacy test using ciproxin. The third one is that it must have serious and strong anti-diarrhea effect because the ileum of a pig is close to the humans in terms of physiological and other relationships and it was made to undergo diarrhea and this product of mine stopped it. The last test is the viral test. In HIV, there is very high level of viral load. I was asked to get the purest form of five grammes of AZT, which I got from Ranbaxy, manufacturers of anti-retroviral drugs. When these tests were experimented on HIV rabbits with all the opportunistic infection including cough, rashes and the like, my supplements were used to treat, and the second group AZT was used to treat so that they can compare their effects. Within the period of the tests, my supplement resolved all the opportunistic infections related to HIV, this was about 20 years ago.During these years, have your drugs been undergoing some mode of enhancementsOf course, it has. I read MBA and Law, so when I finished these educational pursuits, I decided to re-test what I did earlier in the Nigeria Institute of Medical Research in Lagos in the National Institute for Pharmaceutical Research and Development (NIPRD) in Idu, FCT and I got the same efficacy results certifying that my drugs are potent without side-effects.Where I differ from the Babalawo can be seen clearly. I am using the food we eat, including the saponins, glycosides, tannins, fiber, simple sugars, vitamins, selenium, cholin and chronic zinc contents. All these have been carefully combined and the four procedures are scientific. What has been the response from international pharmaceuticalsMy drugs have even been taken to the United States of America where it was used on a HIV patient and the result was amazing. It resolved all the opportunistic infections. A particular prominent foreign pharmaceutical company was so impressed by my drugs because of the interest generated by the effect on the volunteer HIV patient it was earlier administered to, so they are using their funds for further investigations on G3. This is also different from another foreign multinational medical manufacturer that has seen our drugs and is interested.Infact, the World Health Organization or NAFDAC does not ask you for efficacy. As a Pharmacist, they expect one to justify them. This is why the efficacy law has been carried out to justify my claim. International law on medicines mandates that for every drug to be certified, it must be stable, measured for safety and have LD50. This means it must not be toxic for human consumption. For instance, my SAAB is 300 milligrams; they will give ten times that dose to an animal and keep it for seven days. This test was done for SAABs, DAABs and HAABs and none of the animals died. And in experimental use, there has not been any pharmaco-vigilant report by any on those administered upon, but we advise pregnant women to desist from using it.Are you treading the same path like an Abuja-based scientist that raised controversial reactions to claims to having the cure for HIV some years agoNo, I am different. He used the blood of human beings, modified it to treat HIV/AIDs to help humanity but he was not ready to let it out for NAFDAC to verify as he was afraid that his remedies may be stolen. I read recently that what Nigeria rejected, exactly his style has been used by one of the western countries and they successfully got vaccine on HIV/AIDS. He should have been allowed to carry his research forward.  I am using plants antioxidants and have subjected my claims to international law by mentioning what I am using and submitting them to authority for testing. Results came out validating my claims and I have been duly registered. I am following the rules to the letter and I am ready to subject my drugs to any level of investigations in terms of materials used. My drugs are manufactured in a NAFDAC approved laboratory. In the seventies, when former President, Olusegun Obasanjos call for Operation Feed the Nation and civil servants were encouraged to farm, I chose herbal farming to add value to human existence. Is your attraction for herbal medicine hereditaryNo, it is purely a scientific acumen. When you are a voracious reader like me, you will know that research on combinations of medicines can lead to a viable product. The death of my mother of treatable ailments was a low period in my life as my drugs were not ready for use then.Does G3 have a counteractive effect on users who might not have a particular ailment but adopt symptoms after use of the drugsNo. I am using the three on daily basis. I dont have any of the ailments mentioned. In a laboratory experiment, when we applied DAABs to an animal, we increased the sugar level of the animal and SAABs brings it down to normal to the extent that if there are tendencies for you to have those illnesses, it will put paid to them without side effects.
