Suspected thugs attack Bauchi commissioner, others

HOODLUMS suspected to be political thugs have attacked the Bauchi State Commissioner for Rural Development, Mahiru Maiwada Wandi, a former commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Yakubu Abdullahi and a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the National Assembly election, Hussaini Umar. The Guardian gathered that the three men, who were attacked in Toro by the thugs that beat them mercilessly and stabbed them in different parts of the body, have been admitted at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi. It was learnt that the three men, who were on their way to their polling units last Thursday, observed that a bus was coming behind them. Suddenly, the bus sped close and hit their car, pushing it inside a ditch. The hoodlums were said to have rushed out of the bus with sticks, axes, knives and swords to attack their targets and left them in the pool of their blood thinking that they had died. It was gathered that soldiers on surveillance, who saw the hoodlums from a far distance, shot into the air, which made the attackers to run away. A source said the soldiers took Wandi, Abdullahi and Umar to Toro General Hospital where they were given first aid treatment before being transferred to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital. Special Adviser to Governor Isa Yuguda on Political Matters, Abdul Mumini Kundak and Senior Special Assistant on Media, Sanusi Mohammed, confirmed the attack.
