Uduaghan craves support of opposition, others

Published by Guardian on Tue, 03 May 2011

GOVERNOR Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State has promised to reach out to leaders of opposition parties in the state and reconcile with them so that together they can move the state forward.According to a statement, Uduaghan who spoke at the weekend at the Word of Life Bible Church, Warri during a thanksgiving service to mark his election victory, said he would make personal contact and reconcile with those who contested against him. He also promised to reconcile with those within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who worked against him. The governor who expressed regret over what he called so much hatred in Delta State, appealed to the people to forgive him if in the process of governance he erred and offended them. Please forgive me and not be angry with me. I call on you to forgive me and fear God and let all of us work together, the governor pleaded. He promised to work out a programme that would create employment for the youths, adding that in the near future, there would be no area boys in the state. The Governor said that the unemployed youths are many in the state, promising that since youths were future leaders, he will focus on them and empower them. He urged the people to eschew violence which he described as counter productive, praying that the state will not witness violence again. In his sermon the Pastor of Word of Life Bible Church and President of Christian Association of Nigeria Papa Ayo Oritsejafor enjoined the governor to give appointment to only those who are God fearing. Pastor Oritsejafor also enjoined him to appoint those who will feel the pulse of the people and who will identify selflessly with their tears, needs, fears and aspirations. He admonished Deltans to fear and obey God irrespective of the profession they belong to.
