Kogi govt partners S/Korea to establish technology training institute

THE Kogi State government, in partnership with South Korea is to establish a technology training institute in the state.The state governor, Captain Idris Wada, disclosed this at the weekend, while inaugurating a rural information technology centre built at Ejuku, Yagba West Local Government Area of the state by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).According to him, the institute, which will be established in Lokoja, would offer diploma programme in information communication technology, automobile engineering, electrical engineering, welding and piping. The governor, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Olugbenro Jegede, said that, the state government embarked upon the establishment of the institute to actualise its dream of ensuring technological development of rural areas of the state, describing the decision of the NITDA to construct the RITC in Ejuku, as commendable and complementary. The governor described the inauguration of the centre as epoch making, especially as it is located in a rural area, saying, it underscores government's belief that rural areas should be competitively developed with modern infrastructural facilities like urban settlements of the state.
