Neymar Comments on MSN Relationship After Cristiano Ronaldo Dismissed Importance

Published by Bleacher Report on Tue, 23 Feb 2016

Neymar has insisted his friendship with Barcelona team-mates Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez plays a "big part" in their success on the pitch following Cristiano Ronaldo's dismissal of the importance of off-field relationships within squads. The Real Madrid superstar recently said he did "not need little kisses and hugs" or to invite the likes of Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale to his house in order for them to play well together, per Goal's Tom Webber. However, Neymar believes his relationship with Suarez and Messi is part of what has made them such a devastating attacking trio at the Camp Nou, per John Cross in theMirror:Barcelona is about so much more than myself, Leo, and Luis, but of course I love the relationship we have.We are achieving special things on the field, and our friendship off the field plays a big part in that.None of us is concerned about personal glory. Who scores, who assists, who wins individual awards, it does not matter. All that matters is what Barcelona can achieve, and we are believing for another very special season.Barca are well on course for another La Liga, Copa del Rey and Champions League treble this season, in no small part because of their superlative attacking line, whose goalscoringconsistency is quite remarkable, per SuperSport:Nicknamed MSN, Bleacher Report's Sam Tighe recently described them as the best attacking trio of all time:It is hard to argue with that assessment, and they certainly do seem to get on very well together.Suarez has also indicated that, although it is not vital to get on well with team-mates, his excellent relationship with Neymar and Messi has been key in their on-field successes, per Matthew Dunnof the Express:You don't have to be best friends with the people you work with, but it helps. The friendship between myself, Messi, and Neymar is genuine, we are all very close.I am sure that our friendship off the field is helping our understanding and communication on the field. All the time we are improving, and still we can reach an even higher level. The idea that Messi, Suarez and Neymar can get even better is a frightening prospect, not least for their next opponents, Arsenal. The Blaugrana face the Gunners at the Emirates on Tuesday in the first leg of their last-16 tie in the Champions League.Arsenal have failed to get further than the first knockout round for any of the past five seasons, and few are giving them much chance of breaking that run this year, per Squawka:The two sides have met twice in the Champions League in the recent past, in the last 16 in 2011 and at the quarter-final stage in 2010.Both times, the Gunners were at home in the first leg, and both times they got a decent resulta 2-2 draw in 2010, a 2-1 victory in 2011but were then turned over at the Camp Nou and knocked out of the competition.Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will be desperate to take something with them toCatalonia in three weeks. However, Barca are arguably even more formidable now than they were at the beginning of the decade, and Messi, Suarez and Neymar will be almost impossible for the Gunners to contain.
