UEFA Youth League Results 2015-16: Wednesday Scores, Recap After Round of 16

Published by Bleacher Report on Wed, 24 Feb 2016

Four more teams qualified for the quarter-finals of the 2015-16 UEFA Youth League on Wednesday, as Paris Saint-Germain, AS Roma, Ajax and Benfica emerged victorious from the final round-of-16 fixtures.Roma and Benfica both needed penalties to get past PSV and Pribram, respectively, while PSG beat Middlesbrough 1-0 and Ajax cruised to a 3-0 win over Lyon. Here's a look at the full results, courtesy of the UEFA Youth League's official Twitter account:The draw for the quarter-finals:RecapStar forward Jean-Kevin Augustin scored the only goal in PSG's win over Middlesbrough, finding space inside the penalty area before slotting home a smart finish just before half-time.The 18-year-old skipper looked sensational for PSG's senior side during pre-season and has continued his fine form with the under-19's, frequently looking like a man among boys. Things weren't any different on Wednesday, although Boro held their own against the favoured French squad. The team's official Twitter account noted the English side surely had chances to pull level:Les Parisiens had the better chances, however, and Augustin came close to doubling his tally in the 80th minute, nearly scoring what would have been the goal of the tournament. Nutmegging a defender near the corner flag, he cut inside before unleashing a powerful shot that just missed the target.Ajax fielded a very strong squad against Lyon, featuring the likes of Vaclav Cerny and Abdelhak Nouri, and they predictably cruised to an easy win to book a quarter-final date with defending champions Chelsea.Nouri, Leon Bergsma and Donny van de Beek all found the net for the Dutch side, while Lyon finished the match with 10 players, as Gedeon Kalulu was handed a straight red card after 63 minutes.Ajax have been in exceptional form all season long, and the visitors seemed to plow through the Lyon defence almost at will at times. Nouri's goal in particular was a beauty, as shared by the club's official Twitter account:Benfica nearly suffered a shock defeat at the hands of Czech minnows Pribram, who forced extra time through Karsten Ayong and had a handful of chances to avoid a penalty shootout. The Portuguese side didn't miss a single penalty, however, and goalkeeper Andre Ferreira denied Stepan Holy early in the shootout, enough to grab the win.PSV scored just a single penalty in their shootout loss against Roma, while Lorenzo Vasco, Sadiq Umar and Lorenzo Grossi all kept their composure to send the Giallorossi through to the next round, where they'll face PSG.
