My differences with Mimiko political - Aregbesola

Published by Tribune on Wed, 11 Jul 2012

OSUN State governor, Mr Rauf Aregbesola, has said his differences with his Ondo State counterpart, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, was not personal but purely political. The governor said this on Monday, during an interactive programme, tagged 'Ogbeni Till Daybreak,' adding that the reason the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) was resolute at taking over Ondo State from the ruling Labour Party (LP) in the October 20 gubernatorial election was that it was not comfortable that out of the six states in the South-West geopolitical zone, only Ondo was not under its control.According to him, the determination of the ACN to rule Ondo State was born out of the desire of the party to promote regional integration in the South-West, adding that it would be impossible to realise the vision if Ondo was under the control of another political party.Aregbesola said the South-West zone would set a pace for other zones in the country if all the states in the zone were controlled by the ACN, noting that the only progressive party committed to the course of democracy and good governance in the country was ACN.The governor, who maintained that the ACN would ensure that it won the October 20 governorship election in Ondo State, said the party had set necessary machineries in motion to deliver the state.Speaking on the 20,000 youths employed by his administration, he said it could not continue to sustain them, because the burden of retaining them will prevent the engagement and training of other youths who want to be part of the scheme.
