Offa council boss woos stakeholders on security

The chairman of Offa Local Government Area of Kwara State, Prince Saheed Popoola, has tasked stakeholders in the state to partner with his administration in its efforts to ensure adequate security of lives and properties in the local government.Speaking with journalists in Offa, Prince Popoola said he was worried by the incessant cases of armed robberyin the ancient town.The council boss, who decried the rising cases of armed robbery in the local government, vowed to leave no stone unturned to ensure adequate security of lives and property of the residents of the local government.The chairman noted that insecurity is a threat to the peaceful co-existence of the people and development of the area, hence it became necessary for the residents to continue to cooperate with the government in order to continue to deliver the dividends of democracy at people's doorsteps.Popoola, the only ACN chairman in the state, also urged the residents to collaborate with the vigilante groups and other existing security outfits in the local government by being conscious of strange people and movements in their areas, adding that they should offeruseful information to nip activities of criminals and criminalities in the bud.The chairman, who commended the donation of buses, said that the gesture would in no small way help in beefing up security around the local government area.He also urged the beneficiaries to use the items judiciously and for the purposes they were meant to serve.He commended the efforts of the Olofa of Offa, on his efforts at ensuring that the residents of the ancient town lived in an atmosphere devoid of fear and threats, adding that the traditional ruler should ensure that well- meaning Nigerians came to the aid of the people to provide the needed.
