Save our Tin-City

Published by Guardian on Wed, 02 Mar 2011

EACH day, I see our newspaper, news and enews, marred with tales of woe from the Tin-city. Got me thinking, how did this nightmare emerge  how have we become a mirror effect of the war-ton Middle-East  These tales are not far fetched from the Berlin massacre of the Jews, the Vietnam war, the Sudanese duel, the Middle-Eastern wars flared by Al Qaeda, and most especially the genocide of Rwanda. As if poverty is not enough, we have added terrorism amidst militancy and kidnapping to our unending list of demagogues. Some say the killings are political, others have argued it to be religious but I think the former has an agenda to mislead us. This is because from the facts, evidence and precedents, it is apparent that it is purely religious. If it is religious, where are those who believe in God or Allah Did Allah say the Quoran should be replaced with a machete I know God commanded thou shall not kill in both religious Books. It is a pity to see the Rosary and or the Book discarded for an AK-47. In other to solve this anormally, one must delve into the root of the problem and not merely accuse the teachings of an extremist Islamic sect and let us pray that the rot has not so developed as to be likened to Jerusalem/Islamabad.The forthcoming general elections could not come at a worse time. After an unrated but perceived success against electorial malpractice and violence, the Jos-effect is like an apocalypse set for a later date. Any delegate vying to rule jos must bring an equilibrium between the religious sects or may loose his life at the pool booth.Come April polls 2011, save our Tin-city, save our children, save our parents, save our delegates, save our soul . There is fire on the mountain and nobody is running.
