Our presidents resentment of words and priorities

Published by Guardian on Wed, 02 Mar 2011

IN one of our presidents notes today, he expressed resentment that someof his party members are being described as mere,I guess beings. And Iwish to equally express my concern regarding the presidents resentmentof such a trivial matter. In the history of politics and leadership, the players have been subjected to a great deal of name calling anddepictions. Its the nature of the game. All any Nigerian leader needsto do, is look across to the West and see this natural trend. PresidentObama was called the anti-christ, all kinds of names, and even somechurches doctored video images, inserting his head and falsely claiminghe made certain statements. Our dear president, whom I support and whom Ibelieve has enough credentials to lead Nigeria, should stay focused onalleviating the hardships of Nigerians and enforcing the rule of law, that includes separating good leaders from the bad and punishing them.He must be willing to draw that distinction instead of resenting namecalling. The sooner our president comes to the realization that we haveleaders who are self serving, the better our nation. The fact is that certain people, including some politicians, need to be banned from politics. Our president shouldstop embracing any arms that stand before him. Its true we are allGods children, but some of us are too evil and corrupt, to standbeside the president. He should embody what is good, true and essential,to the survival and growth of the nation. If he is embracing everymember of his party, regardless of their notoriety and lack of goodperformance, he is essentially encouraging and endorsing their recklessactions. And it is these actions that prompt people to use wordslikemere and other disparaging words. These words are the springs offrustration and hardship, and I am of the opinion that our presidentshould address these hardships and sufferings than condemn words that do not hurt. Our president should rise above partisan politics and seek all that is good for Nigeria.
