Industry body proposes use of made-in-Nigeria products

In the bid to boost theuse of made-in-Nigeria products, a new policy has been proposed by the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) which will allow the contractors to utilise the products made in Nigeria as a first preference in the execution of government projects.The proposal came up recently in Kaduna during a campaign for the support and promotion of products made in Nigeria which was organised for the North-Western region.Alhaji Ali S. Madugu, who represented the National President of MAN,  Chief Kola Jamodu, noted that once the campaign for the support and promotion of Nigerian commodities was completely assimilated and adopted, industries would undergo expansion in capacity utilisation and also enhance the quality of products made in Nigeria. He noted that this would then lower excessive reliance on foreign products and boost the overall growth and development in the manufacturing industry.He appealed to the government to balance the campaign with facilities for sufficient power supply, the supply of  LFPO, AGO, as well as natural gas.He also advocated the provision of soft loans to the industry and requested the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to ascertain the immediate ending of the discussion that is still continuing with the stakeholders on the notice that has removed the ban on several prohibited products.
