Liberia declares war on Eagles

OFFICIALS of the Liberia Football Association are upbeat about the prospect of meeting the Super Eagles at the critical stage of the 2013 nations cup qualifier billed for September 2012, as the mood in Monrovia is that of shocking the Eagles when both teams meet later.Speaking on phone from Monrovia, the head of Competition at the Liberia FA, Benedict Iyase said they were aware of their underdog status in African football context, but will not be lying down for the picking by Nigeria.'We know Nigeria has a lot to prove, but it is not going to be an easy task for them...tell your coach to be ready for ''war' when we meet in September'', he warned.Iyase said further that Liberia would be drawing from the history of both teams over time, though observers would expect the Lone Stars to concede defeat..''We know how the world will want to see us against Nigeria who are big boys in African football, but my brother, this time we will fight your team to submission. At least our qualification from the initial phase of the qualification should guide doubters that we are no push overs'', he posited in the Liberian peculiar inflection. He further revealing that the West African nation's football authorities are already shopping for quality friendlies to prepare them for the task of facing the Eagles.
