FG urged to dualiseIkirun-Otan-IresiEkiti road

Published by Tribune on Wed, 04 May 2011

A community leader, Chief Olabisi Fashipe, has appealed to the Federal Government to dualise Ikirun/Otan Aiyegbaju/Iresi/Ado-Ekiti road. Chief Fashipe said that if the road was dualised, it would take shorter time for commuters travelling from any part of the South-West to get to Abuja.Speaking with Community News in Iresi in Boluwaduro Local Government Council of Osun State, Chief Fashipe, who is an high chief and the Obala of Iresi maintained that Iresi was very close to Ado-Ekiti adding that if the road was good, it would not take more than thirty minutes for anybody travelling from Iresi through Ikoro-Ekiti to get to Ado-Ekiti in Ekiti State. He said, instead of travelling from Lagos through Akure and Owo before getting to Abuja, if one takes Otan-Ayegbaju-Iresi road, such person will get to Abuja earlier than those that take another route. The community leader, while calling for the Federal Government assistance to upgrade the road, stated that the people of Iresi had been maintaining the road, adding that the community repaired a bridge which passed through the town when it was cut off by erosion. He stated that most of the projects in the town including primary and secondary schools as well as the College of Technology were done through the communal efforts.Chief Fashipe lamented that the mini water scheme Iresi/Eripa water scheme executed by the immediate past administration had broken down.He appealed to President, Dr Goodluck Jonathan, who had once lived in the community during his National Youth Service Scheme, to come to the aid of the people.
