Ososami residents task Ajimobi on governance

Published by Tribune on Wed, 04 May 2011

RESIDENTS of Ososami, in Ibadan, Oyo State, have asked the governor-elect, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, to handle the mantle of leadership bestowed on him by the people of the state with utmost care and fairness.According to Mr Jimoh Oladipupo, a business operator in the area, governor-elect, Ajimobi should handle the mantle of leadership with care.  His first hundred days in office he said, will determine if the fight and the determination of the people to get him into power were worth it.  The election has showed that power now belongs to the people, if you are not performing, you will be kicked out.  He has a huge challenge ahead of him, so, he should select credible and highly intellectual people to work with, and not political jobbers who want to benefit from his benevolence.According to Mr. Ikechukwu Nwodo, a boutique owner, Ajimobis primary concern now should be on the issue of security of lives and property in the state. Unemployment he said, had frustrated many youths, and energised to commit crime.  Over 75 percent of recorded robberies were committed by unemployed youths because, Nigerian youths seem to have lost respect for human life.  They seem to be more materialistic, for them, big wealth must come early in life.  He should create more jobs for these set of people to reduce crime to a barest minimum in the state, he said.
