FOR snubbing journalists after the Super Flacons were forced to a 1-1 draw by the Ghanaian junior team in an All Africa Games qualifier in Abuja on Sunday, coach Eucharia Uche may have played into the bad books of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).At the end of the match, Uche acted so poorly by refusing to speak to dozens of journalists, who had waited patiently for the Falcons to come out of the dressing room.Apart from drawing the ire of both the pressmen and some women football club owners, who were in Abuja to watch the game, some top officials of the NFF were said to have flayed Uches attitude, which they felt does not reflect the behaviour of a coach heading to a FIFA-organised World Cup in Germany. One of the NFF officials, who spoke with The Guardian shortly after the match, complained bitterly that Uche did not show sportsmanship as a coach, stating: I find it difficult to understand why a coach of a national team should behave the way Uche just did. If you fail to get it right and your team played a draw with Ghana U-20 side, what is the business of the journalists, whose duties is to reportWe are all aware that FIFA dont joke with the media and for coach Uche to shun the press right in front of us is very bad. It means she is not ready for the World Cup because football is a media event. You as coach must talk to the media whether your team plays well or not.On Uches performance and that of the girls on the field of play, the NFF official said: I dont really know how to rate the team at the moment. After our match against Namibia some weeks ago, which the team won, I heard our 1st Vice President (Mike Umeh) complaining that he was not satisfied with the teams performance. Now I know what he meant. That the Falcons played 1-1 draw with Ghana is not my problem. My main headache for now is the technical lapses and errors being noticed in all departments of the team.We have few weeks to the World Cup in Germany and it baffles me that the Falcons are still at this level. It means we dont know what we are doing. I am not happy with what is going on.
