Federation Cup: Impressive crowd as Enyimba mauls Samba FC 3-1 'Kwara United suspends coach after loss 'Wolves' Fate in NFF's hands

Published by Tribune on Thu, 19 Jul 2012

IN spite of security fears, a sizeable number of fans turned out at the Tafawa Balewa Stadium to watch Enyimba beat Samba FC of Enugu 3-1 in a Group game of the Federation Cup.A lot of fears on security has been raised on these fixtures with Warri Wolves failing to turn up at the centre but fans watched the game unmolested as Enyimba made their experience count over Samba FC.Austin Eguavoen lauded the seriousness in which Enyimba took the game.''This win is very important, you could hear shocking results across the centres, so we need to celebrate this win. There are three in this group following Wolves' withdrawal.Meanwhile, Lobi Stars is the other team in this group.Meanwhile, MANAGEMENT of Kwara United yesterday suspended chief coach, Tunde Sanni, indefinitely following yesterday's 1-2 loss to Kano Pillars in the Lagos zone of the Federation Cup.United had earlier lost its first group game 0-1 to El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri and yesterday's loss to Pillars ended the Kwarans campaign in the competition.Announcing the management's decision to sportswriters, club's spokesman, Olayioye Ajide, informed that Sanni's assistant Zubair Ali will take charge of the United team against Crown FC of Ogbomoso tomorrow.Meanwhile, Crown FC of Ogbomoso and El-kanemi Warriors ended their own game goalless.Meanwhile, WARRI Wolves may have pulled out of this year's Federation Cup round of sixteen following the club refusal to go to Bauchi centre to be part of the group round robbin teams. But the nations football house says the decision for sanction now rest with the judicial arm of the NFF; the Organisation and Disciplinary Committee. The Warri team claims the issue of security is what informed their decision not to be part of the Bauchi group, alleging that the safety of the players and officials is doubtful against thebackdrop of current security challenges in the northern part of the country.
